It is with the greatest pleasure and gratitude that we welcome you to join us in celebrating a major milestone in our journey. Sara Bhumi Lanka Bioproducts' journey from the conceptual stage in 2012,to early R&D to the establishment our or first lab and production facilities, has been one filled with challenges and hard lessons learnt. But it has also been one with many successes and the satisfaction that come with each obstacle overcome and each new successful product launched
We are grateful to those people who helped us find our way: scientists,academics,researchers,farmers and planters. It is with their guidance,advice and ancouragement that we have become more relevant to the needs of Sri Lanka's agricultural and plantation sectors. Most of all I am grateful to the team,past and present,who have helped to get us here
Today we celebrate the next stage of our journey: the opening of the Centre for Applied Microbiology Research, Development and Training. It is a place that will foster greater collaboration,sharing and learning among academics, students, researchers and practitioners from the universities, vocational school, government and NGO research institutes, and private sector stakeholders - many of whome are in close proximity to this Centre. It is a place where we can join together to solve problems facing our nation and the world, drawing upon the wealth of knowledge, skill and technological resources that are at our doorstep.
We must, as Seneca the Younger, Roman statesman and philosopher said "Associate with those who are likely to improve you, Welcome those who are capable of improving. The process is a mutual one: men learn as they teach". It is in this spirit that we look to the next step in our journey
